The LA Times reported January 22, 2026 that their reporter, Gustavo Arellano, took a walk in the park with Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez and discussed what they each saw.
The Councilmember shared that over three years, $28 has been spent on the park through various funding sources.
Some of the improvements include:
- Red curb painting
- Power washing sidewalks
- Restored playground with fencing, which was damaged by arsonist fall 2024
- Solarized street lights
Future plans include:
- Improving water quality so pedal boats can be used
- More trees
- Spots for food vendors
- $2.3 million fence around the park
